Secrets of the Necronomicon – Tarot Tuesday

Secrets of the Necronomicon by Donald Tyson

It is October which can only mean, the Deep Ones are coming ashore, the shoggoths are oozing and it is one again time to call out: Ph’nglui mglw’nafh Cthulhu R’lyeh wgah’nagl fhtagn… Though we might not be going down to Dunwich and I have not received the Innsmouth look we are opening the book  of the Book of the Dead written by the “Mad Arab” Abdul Alhazred but better known as The Necronomicon. But before we open we will draw the Elder Sign to protect us. This sign was first created by one Howard Phillips Lovecraft.

Elder Sign Spread

The spread is 8 cards, three cards as the stem of the sign holding it together. The other five as the points to help direct the seeker to their goal.

The Stem

The Empty Space – XIX Sun

It is time to move forward. What is behind you is not something you should look back at. Use the space given to find a center of yourself and clarity.

Tsathoggua – XIII Death

Transition never comes easy, it may seem that you are chained in your place but focus on what is directly in front of you. If you can keep what truly matters and cast off the chaff you will overcome the ordeal you find yourself in.

Possession of Earth – 10 of Disks

The Elder Sign surrounds you as you have learned more from it. Use this gathered knowledge to invest in yourself so that as a seed is planted you will keep growing, branching out in new ways.

Branches

Fulfillment of Earth – 9 of Disks

It is time to prepare for what lies ahead. Gather what you need for the long times ahead and make sure to manage what you have wisely.

Amun – IV Emperor

Cast in bronze the statue is held in highest regard, showing the form of a powerful masculine force. Think of the artists who spent their skill on it and let it spark your creative side on new endeavors.

Auspex – Knave of Disks

Cut with a sharp knife to find the knowledge you need to know. It might not be pretty in how you obtain it, but it will be something to act on.

Regret of Air – Three of Swords

It is not easy to hold onto those you care about. Defend those you depend on and they will also defend you in turn. But just because you defend them does not mean you always have to be on their side.

Indulgence of Water – Four of Cups

Do not seek empty pleasures. You may consider what you are doing is good and just, looking around you might actually see what is truly going on. Finding what you once thought was enjoyment empty is a greater burden the longer you have embraced it.

What the Necronomicon Says to You:

The core is to understand change is happening and be ready for it. You will have to make some sacrifices to accept this change, but most can be avoided by being awake to what is going on around you and willing to do what is best even if it is not the easiest path.
